MINGO Rolls Out Hedera-Powered Ticketing Across 54 African Countries

  • MINGO Tickets targets fraud and entry issues in African live events.
  • The platform uses Hedera for secure, verifiable digital tickets.
  • A PWA design ensures broad access in mobile-first markets.

MINGO has launched MINGO Tickets, a blockchain-based digital ticketing platform built on the Hedera network, alongside a major expansion across 54 African countries. The rollout targets a long-standing problem in live events: ticket fraud, unreliable entry systems, and fragmented tools that raise costs for organizers while frustrating fans.

As boxing and combat sports draw larger crowds across the continent, promoters are under pressure to verify access quickly and fairly—even in mobile-first environments with uneven connectivity. MINGO’s approach aims to modernize how tickets are issued, validated, and managed at scale.

Built for Mobile-First Markets

MINGO Tickets is delivered as a progressive web app (PWA), meaning fans can access tickets through a mobile browser without downloading a separate app. This design choice matters in regions where device capabilities vary widely and storage is limited.

The platform is designed to work smoothly across different smartphones and network conditions, helping reduce entry bottlenecks at venues. Fans can present tickets digitally, while staff can validate access in real time, minimizing delays and confusion at the gate.

Hedera’s Role in Reducing Fraud

At the core of the system is Hedera, which MINGO selected for its performance, security model, and predictable transaction costs. Each ticket is issued as a verifiable digital asset, making it difficult to duplicate or reuse.

This structure helps prevent common issues such as copied tickets or repeated entry attempts. For organizers, it means fewer disputes at entrances and better control over venue access. Predictable fees also help promoters plan events without worrying about volatile infrastructure costs.

Tools for Organizers, Not Just Entry Scans

Beyond access control, MINGO Tickets combines ticket sales, validation, and fan engagement into a single platform. Promoters can use digital media to communicate directly with attendees and analyze ticketing activity to improve event planning.

By consolidating functions that often require multiple providers, the platform aims to lower operational complexity and support long-term growth for sports events across Africa. MINGO is rolling out the system in partnership with African Boxing and the Yucateco Boxing League, signaling a focused push into combat sports.

MINGO CEO Joe Arthur said the launch is about reliability and simplicity for both fans and organizers, while the 54-country expansion demonstrates the model’s ability to scale in real-world conditions. The company has been active in the Hedera ecosystem for several years, positioning MINGO Tickets as a practical use of blockchain rather than a speculative one.
