Tether is taking bold steps to drive U.S. adoption of its new stablecoin, USAT, by partnering with social media platform Rumble. The move highlights Tether’s focus on expanding stablecoin use domestically while exploring new sectors beyond crypto.
Rumble Integration to Boost USAT Adoption
At Token2049 in Singapore, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino revealed plans to leverage Rumble’s 51 million monthly active users in the U.S. to promote USAT. The platform is expected to launch a crypto wallet powered by Tether later this year, simplifying stablecoin access for mainstream users.
“The goal is to convert Rumble’s U.S. audience to use stablecoins within the most advanced financial system,” Ardoino said, signaling Tether’s strategic approach to combining social media reach with digital payments.
Tether’s Strategic Investment in Rumble
Tether invested $775 million in Rumble last year and now owns nearly 48% of the platform. This stake positions Tether to integrate its stablecoins deeply into Rumble’s ecosystem, enhancing utility while potentially attracting more mainstream users to USAT.
USAT, launched last month, is designed under a U.S. regulatory framework to complement Tether’s globally dominant USDT. With USDT’s current supply at $174.6 billion, USAT aims to establish a foothold in the U.S. market while maintaining regulatory compliance.
Expansion Beyond Crypto
Tether is also eyeing growth outside the crypto sector. In 2024, the company reported profits of approximately $13 billion and is reportedly seeking up to $20 billion in new funding at a $500 billion valuation. Ardoino highlighted plans to expand into telecommunications, energy infrastructure, and potentially deploy 100,000–150,000 kiosks in Africa by 2030, demonstrating Tether’s ambition to create dollar-based economies beyond traditional markets.
